The Soulful Mama

I’m a mama on a mission – to create a safe space for new mamas, where they are held and supported as they enter into this crazy journey of motherhood.

Having been a yoga teacher for the last 4 years, I took a step back while on maternity leave and realised that there was a gap in support locally. Sure, there are lots of things happening across Dorset, but many of the services or groups were just too far for me to travel with a newborn, and I knew I wasn’t alone.

This led to me adding to my training (with a newborn in tow!) to become a qualified Baby Yoga and Massage instructor, and a Doula.

Joining forces with some incredible local mamas, I am also proud to say in 2019 I launched The Soulful Mamas Collective – a free online group for support, giggles, hugs (and cake!).

Because raising a child truly requires a Village. And Mamahood is hard enough, so lets make it a little lighter and share the load.


Baby Massage and Baby Yoga

My Baby Massage and Baby Yoga classes are kept small and run within a safe and secure environment. Classes are purely baby-led and are relaxed as well as being informative. Classes can be taken continuously or as a short course, depending on your needs. I even offer 1-2-1 support for new mamas in the comfort of your own home. I also include the all-important time for tea, cake and a chat afterwards too! 

There are so many benefits for baby including:

❤️ aid in development
❤️ developing coordination
❤️ helps develop body awareness

Baby Massage is suitable from 8 weeks until crawling and provides parents with a life long skill set to support little one.

Baby Yoga is suitable from 12 weeks until walking. The class is baby focused, with some yoga inspired movements for mama, and lots of stretch, play and song for baby. Incorporating sensory exploration for baby in a gentle way to avoid overwhelming little one.

Birth & Post-natal Doula

I am proud to say I am currently training to be a Doula so that I can support mamas on their journey, whatever the stage.

A Doula is there to support mothers before, during and after birth. To act as their advocate, and to ensure they are armed with all the knowledge they need in preparation for meeting little one. After the birth, a Doula is there for support, helping mum settle into her new life – whether that is through Breast Feeding support, signposting to appropriate medical care, or simple washing the dishes and making a cup of tea.

There is growing evidence that having a birth or postnatal doula offers tangible benefits – from reducing intervention rates, shortening labour and improving the condition of babies at birth! While I am an advocate for scientific research, for me it is the less tangible benefit which are why I decided to follow this path – the benefits of having a non-judgemental companion during a life-altering event.

I wish I were able to have a Doula help guide me through my journey to Motherhood, and I will be proud to do so for women in the future.
